In 1906 my great grandparents decided to move the family from Ireland to Canada. They boarded a beautiful ship called the Empress of Ireland (it’s worth a quick google search) and off they went. One day my mom n I were discussing what this journey would have been like for them, especially having 6 children in tow. It could NOT have been pleasant, rather, likely quite exhausting and miserable. So, when they finally settled in their new home in 📍Pipestone Manitoba, we couldn’t help but imagine great grandma Jane kicking up her heels and doing a jig in relief and celebration! Thus we have the Pipestone Jig. The celebration of a family, a journey, and a fresh start. ⁣Let me know where YOUR family story started below!

In 1895 my great grandparents (Sam and Jane Flannery) fell in love and were married in Shinrone, Ireland, after having met at their place of employment. He was from Galway (see I really am a Galway girl) and she was from Co. Offaly. Fast forward a few years and they had built a family of 6 lovely children. Then, together in 1906, they made a weighty life changing decision…. ⁣⁣
